A Christian Journey

Jesus Summoned

“And Jesus summoned to Him His twelve disciples and gave them power and authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out, and to cure all kinds of disease and all kinds of weakness and infirmity.” Matthew 10:1  Amplified

Chapter 10 of Matthew tells us of Jesus sending out His disciples to the surrounding areas to preach, teach, heal and evangelize. Verse two tells us the names of the Apostles or Special Messengers, which included Judas Iscariot, the betrayer. Since Jesus gives them power and authority most people believe that this was just for these 12, I would only add that through prayer I believe we have that same power in Jesus name.  Through the saving blood of Jesus unclean spirits are driven out, as well as any dis-ease, weakness and infirmity.

Putting that aside, let’s park in this chapter for a while and study on what Jesus tells them in this chapter as they go out into the world.  I do believe that applies to all believers.
