A Christian Journey

While It Is Still Daylight

“We must work the works of Him Who sent Me and be busy with His business while it is daylight; night is coming on, when no man can work.”  John 9:4  Amplified

We all go about every day living our life and doing the things which that involves. As believers we should also be heeding the words that Christ tells us in today’s verse. Most of us think we can’t do God’s work without completely forfeiting the rest of our daily activities. Some believe there is a division in the Christian world, one that is strictly spiritual and devoted to His work, those called to the ministry fulltime. Some believe that we do our work for God on Sunday, but the rest of the week is for “real” life.

Jesus says we are ALL called, therefore we ALL must work the works of God. Which brings us back to how we do that when we may be married, with children, working a secular job, paying the bills, cleaning house, etc. For me I’ve discovered that I just need to be heavenly minded while here on earth. When I’m at my job, with my family, or out in the world, I look for opportunities to “work” God into what I do. Whenever your around others, look for the chance to talk about what God is doing for you, praise Him when something great happens, and tell people you will pray for them when they’re going through a storm. Make God a part of your daily life as you walk and talk.

There’s an old saying, you get more flies with honey than with vinegar. I’ve always liked that saying and would encourage you that instead of trying to preach to people of the wrong they’re doing, to speak more praise and thanksgiving about God. They will see the joy and peace you have in your heart and they’ll want the same thing.

So let’s be busy doing God’s business while it is still light, because the darkness is coming.
