“But Jesus said to the woman, Your faith has saved you; go, enter into peace, in freedom from all the distresses that are experienced as the result of sin.” Luke 7:50 Amplified
We are looking again at the woman with the alabaster jar who showed her love for Jesus by pouring the ointment inside the jar onto His feet. Those around Him, including His disciples questioned the act. Their doubts ranged from thinking that the expensive product could have been used for better purposes, to the fact that Jesus forgave the woman of her sin. Our Lord shows us the proper perspective to have, not of this world.
We often get bogged down by looking at spiritual things with worldly eyes. We tend to count the number of people in church as opposed to just seeking to do what’s pleasing to the Lord ourselves. We tend to look at the person who has lived a life of bad choices as unacceptable no matter where they stand with God. We look at the external instead of the internal. I think that’s why Jesus would so often said – You look but don’t see; you listen, but don’t hear.
Lord, please give me eyes that see, ears that hear, and a heart that shows genuine love, Your love to others. When we do that we will enjoy the Lord’s inner peace.
