“So then, whatever you desire that others would do to and for you, even so do also to and for them, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:12 Amplified
Aw the Golden Rule, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Most people see at as, do unto others before they do it to you. Of course that’s the upside down way to look at this verse, but the enemy and world usually do that to God’s Word.
If we’re to be like Jesus we must not only follow this rule, but be the initiator in it. Don’t wait for someone to treat you nice before you treat them nice, you do it first. We must go beyond our carnal nature even in trying to follow this rule. For some, returning a kindness doesn’t take much effort, but being for the first to give the kindness that might take a little thought and effort. Thinking of others first, that’s the key to following Jesus and we all have a hard time with that one. Especially when the world all around us says to take care of number one. If we first look to God to meet our need and to take care of us, then we’re free to be used by Him to take care of others. How wonderful our world would be if we all took care of each other. That’s what heaven will be like, God caring for us and us caring for each other. We could all stand a little bit of heaven here on earth.
