“But he who merely hears and does not practice doing My words is like a man who built his house on the ground without a foundation, against which the torrent burst, and immediately it collapsed and fell, and the breaking and ruin of that house was great.” Luke 6:49 Amplified
We are continuing our study of how to be like Jesus. In the verse today our Lord says, just because you know what He says, if you don’t do it, put into practice in your life every day, you are setting yourself up for a fall.
I think a lot of people feel like if they go to church and hear a sermon that’s enough. They look at the Bible like it’s a book from school, they don’t really want to read it, but they feel like they have to, well that doesn’t do us any good. The Creator of the universe has given us a guidebook for life and we ignore it. In our verse today Jesus says we all need a foundation in our life. What is your foundation? What you can do for yourself? You’re a mere mortal and without God’s help you can do nothing. You actually have no foundation.
If you have continually seen breakdown and collapse in your life then seek God in His word and pursue the things He tells us to do. He truly knows what’s best for you and has only your best in mind.
Seek Him. Trust Him
