“From that time Jesus began to preach, crying out, Repent, change your mind for the better, heartily amend your ways with abhorrence of your past sins, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4:17 Amplified
After being baptized by John the Baptist and then being tempted by the devil, Jesus began His ministry. The first thing He does is preach, telling people to turn from their sins. We always think of Jesus as the loving caring teacher, of course most people in sin don’t want to think of him calling them out for that. If it’s all about love then that means you love me sins and all. One of the hardest things to do is to love the sinner but hate the sin. Our mind has a hard time wrapping itself around hating one part of a person and loving another part. This, though, is what Jesus calls us to do.
One thing I see from our verse today is that He tells them what is best for them and then loves them, He lets them know they will be in a better place. We may have difficulty being loving and preaching at the same time, but as we continue to study Jesus life I believe He will show us how to do that.
