“I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own yet; but one thing I do, it is my one aspiration: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the supreme and heavenly prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.” Philippians 3:13-14 Amplified
When a new year starts we tend to look back at the year we just left and most commit to do better, that’s a good thing. So look back, but then forget those things that lie behind, as our scripture today tells us. Forgetting them doesn’t mean that whatever you did wrong was ok, or whoever is no longer with you didn’t mean anything. It means don’t let it weigh you down so that you can’t move forward. The Lord is calling all of us to His goal, reaching the world for Him. We may not have a worldwide ministry, but we have a ministry in our sphere of influence, the people around us. If we only affect one other person this coming year we will have moved toward the goal.
I’m going to be loving, forgiving, helping, and seeking more this year then last year. Will you join me? I want to hear the Lord say, “Well done good and faithful servant.”
