A Christian Journey

Difficult To Understand

“Speaking of this as he does in all of his letters. There are some things in those epistles of Paul that are difficult to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist and misconstrue to their own utter destruction, just as they distort and misinterpret the rest of the Scriptures.”    2 Peter 3:16  Amplified

In this second letter of the Apostle Peter he is warning us of those around us who can lead us astray.  I hear people say sometimes that the Bible is hard to understand.  Peter here admits that it can be, but we don’t have to let that stop us.  The Word of God is our instruction manual for life, a love letter from God.  Only those truly seeking to walk with Him can obtain a real understanding of what it says.  Jesus said, seek and you will find.  Ask God to open up His Word to you for guidance and He will.   Don’t let the names of people and places in the Bible cause you to stumble and give up hearing what God has to say to you.  Get a version you can easily read that maintains the integrity of the Word.  I personally like the Amplifed because it’s translated from the Hebrew and Greek into today’s language.

In verse 17 Peter continues his warning that since you know others may try to lead you astray be on guard and grow in grace, spiritual strength, knowledge and understanding.

I pray that God opens your spiritual eyes so that you can truly see what’s going on around you.
