“In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear not, O Zion. Let not your hands sink down or be slow and listless.” Zephaniah 3:16
As we continue through our study of the 3:16 verses in the bible we are moving quickly through the minor prophets. Zephaniah spends the first two and a half chapters of this book talking about the wrath of God, not only on Israel for being disobedient, but on the whole world. Then in the last half of the third chapter we finally see the love of God as He forgives His people, those who turn to Him.
It’s hard for us to understand how mad God feels when we are disobedient, but how do we act when we are wronged or hurt? God ALWAYS forgives though, do we? God longs to show us mercy and grace if only we will trust Him. He loves us, He gave His Son for us.
Verse 17 says, “The Lord your God is in the midst of you, a Mighty One, a Savior! He will rejoice over you with joy; He will rest in silent satisfaction and in His love He will be silent and make no mention of past sins or even recall them, He will exult over you with singing.”
Let’s follow God’s lead and example, be silent regarding others past sins as He is doing for us.
