“And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, The Lord is with you, you mighty man of fearless courage.” Judges 6:12
This verse is in the story of Gideon. It’s one my favorites because the Lord called Gideon a mighty man (person) of fearless courage, but Gideon didn’t see himself that way. In fact he replied to the Angel, How can I deliver Israel? Behold my clan is the poorest and I am the least in my house. The Lord replied to him, Surely I will be with you.
This is a great lesson for us when we think we can’t do anything for the Lord. If He calls you to do something He will equip you to do it and, more importantly, He will be with you.
To prove even further that it was God fighting the battle for Israel, He told Gideon repeatedly that he had too many men with him. He also did this so the people would know it was God and not think they did it themselves, that’s another lesson for us.
See yourself through God’s eyes and you can do great things.
