“Turn away my eyes from beholding vanity and restore me to vigorous life and health in Your ways.” Psalm 119:37
This verse starts out by saying to turn our eyes away from vanity. Sounds like it’s saying don’t be concerned with how you look, but then the writer asks the Lord to restore life and health. Vanity in this verse means things we look at that mean nothing and have no real value. It’s not so much how we look to others or even ourselves in the mirror, but what we are looking at. (Forgive ending with a preposition).
I believe this verse is saying we need to look to the Lord in ALL things and He will restore us to vigorous life and health as we allow Him to lead us in His ways.
The Lord wants us all to have vigorous life and health, turn to Him.
