“He said, Go into the city to a certain man and say to him, The Master says; My time is near; I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.” Matthew 26:18 Amplified
So here we are the day before Good Friday, we all know what happened on that day. In the verse today Jesus instructs His disciples to get a place ready for them to observe Passover. The disciples no doubt looked forward to having the Passover meal with their Master, not realizing He would be the Passover Lamb.
We go from them joining together in verse 20 where He gives Himself symbolically, to the garden where He gives Himself literally. What a rollercoster of emotions that day. A peaceful supper, betrayal by a friend, agonizing prayer, wrongful arrest, healing of a lopped off ear and finally denial by one who had just told Him he would never fall away. That’s why the bible says He knows how we feel, because on just one night He felt all the emotions we could feel in a lifetime.
We know where He’s headed on this night, and He’s headed there because of his love for us.
