“In pouring this perfume on My body she has done something to prepare Me for My burial.” Matthew 26:12
We are in holy week leading up to the greatest event for a christian, the sacrifice Jesus made for us to have eternal life.
In the verse today Jesus was in Simon’s house and a woman came in with her alabastar flask of very precious perfume. As He was reclined at the table she poured it on Jesus’ head. This happened on the day before the last supper. The disciples didn’t understand why she did it and complained at the loss of such an expensive item. One of the twelve, Judas, was so upset about it that he went that evening to the chief priests to betray Jesus.
How ironic – that the day started with a beautiful gesture of love and ended with a horrible gesture of hate.
Jesus told the disciples in verse 13, “Truly I tell you, wherever this good news is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will be told also, in memory of her.”
We don’t know this womans name, but the Lord wants us to remember what she did.
