“But God shows and clearly proves His own love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
When some people read this scripture they look at their life and say, I’m not a sinner. A sinner is a bad person, like a thief, a murderer, or a liar. That’s true, those are sinners – but can you honestly say you’ve NEVER told a lie, stolen anything, or came close to hurting someone? Then you are a sinner.
As our verse today says though, Christ died for us because God loves us so much. This is not a blanket salvation, else those who continue in sin would receive it, but for those who turn to God and ask for His forgiveness. Does that mean we never sin again? No, we are human, but our “want to” changes and we seek to please God because we love Him so much.
