“Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, cautiously and carefully observing the divine law, and looking for the Consolation of Israel and the Holy Spirit was upon him.” Luke 2:25 (Amplified)
The thing that jumps out at me from this verse is that this man was looking for the Consolation of Israel, the Messiah, Jesus. How many of us were “looking” for Jesus before we got saved? For those who don’t have a relationship with Him, are they “looking” for Him? This man Simeon had no more knowledge of the prophecy regarding the Messiah than we do. Yet, he was looking for Him. The verse concludes by saying that the Holy Spirit was upon him.
Sometimes we wonder why we don’t “hear” from God or feel His presence in our life. Are we “looking” for Him? If not, maybe that is why.
