A Christian Journey

With Thanksgiving

“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.”    Philippians 4:6   (Amplified)

Our human tendency is to fret, be anxious and worry about everything and every circumstance.   Oh that I would never have any of that depressing trio, but I battle with it just like anyone else.  I’ve heard it said that worry is like sitting in a rocking chair – it keeps you busy, but you never get anywhere.

The Lord gives us a prescription for our worrisomeness (how’s that for a word) bring your concerns and circumstances to Him in a definite request.  Yes, He knows what is going on in your life, but He wants you to humble yourself before Him and bring your problems to Him because you know He will take care of it.  When you bring your prayers, petitions and requests to Him make sure you start with thanksgiving.  Like thanking the lifeguard, paramedic or doctor on duty before they do anything, it lifts the situation out of your hands and into His.

So though it is hard to be thankful in every circumstance and in everything that happens to us, we can be thankful we have an awesome God Who can take care of whatever it is.
