A Christian Journey

Nothing To Be Thankful For

“Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house, and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he got down upon his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously.”  Daniel 6:10

This verse is in the well known story of Daniel and the lion’s den.  Just a bit of review, King Darius had put Daniel in charge as second in command in the land.  Others in the kingdom were jealous of Daniel so they plotted to get rid of him.  They encouraged the king to make it a law that no one could worship anyone or anything but the king, or be thrown into the den of lions.  These evil men knew that Daniel worshipped God, so once the law was signed they advised the king that Daniel was breaking it.  Now Daniel knew what they were up to, but he stood strong and did as he had always done, worshipped God.

Oh how I pray that God will raise up an army of believers who will stand strong in the times we are in and those that lie ahead.   All of us have a line that we will not cross, is that the same line God has drawn?  I pray for strength to live my life pleasing to God and lift my voice in prayer giving thanks to Him for taking care of me.

We know the end of the story for Daniel, he was thrown into the lion’s den, but they did not harm him in the least. His enemies were then thrown in and were devoured.  For us, the end of the story, if you are a believer in Jesus, is that we will stand with Him in heaven, rejoice and give thanks to the Almighty God!
