A Christian Journey

“Lean on, trust in and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and don’t rely on your own insight or understanding.  In all your ways know, recognize and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.”      Proverbs 3:5-6   (Amplified version)

Growing up I was a “why” baby, I wanted to know why things were the way they were and to understand everything in the world around me.  As an adult I still want to understand, but now it is why people act the way they do.  I believe people aren’t born mean or nasty or depressed, something has happened to them in their life to make them the way they are.  All of us have been influenced by the people and events, good and bad, in our life that have made us who we are today.

In this verse from Proverbs the Lord says “don’t rely on your own insight or understanding”.  That’s hard for me to do because I’ve always been that way.  Besides most people live their lives relying on their own insight and understanding.  Oh wait, the Lord is telling us THAT is the problem.

Look at what He said in the book of Job – were we there when He created the universe?  Since we weren’t then we really have no understanding.   How many times have we thought something would go one way and it goes another.  Only God KNOWS what is going to happen so why even try to rely on our own understanding, all we are doing is guessing anyway.

Try to think of it this way, we trust the experts when it comes to other areas of our life, well God is the expert ON life, so put your trust in Him in ALL the areas of your life and He will give you direction.  It’s so much less stressful.
