“My child pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to My words, don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them and healing to their whole body.” Proverbs 4:20-22
When we read God’s Word or hear a sermon do we truly listen to what is being said? This verse in Proverbs says “pay attention to what I say”. That is God speaking, and when His Word is read or preached He is still the One doing the talking. It is for our own good to “listen carefully” because His words bring life and healing. Who wouldn’t want life and healing? A good way to test your listening ability is to give yourself a pop quiz after you hear a sermon or even read God’s Word. What did God say? What is He trying to tell you?
Think about it, it’s for your own good.
