Why Cry Out to God

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”  Psalm 46:1

There are so many scriptures I could list showing how God is there for us and helps us.  It is hard for our earthly minds to comprehend Him because He is spiritual but that doesn’t mean He doesn’t exist.  We don’t see the wind but we feel it moving around us.  Open your spiritual eyes and you will see God moving all around you.

If you are in trouble and know you can call someone up on the phone to come and help you, you are doing the same thing when you “call” on the Lord through prayer.  All you have to do is believe He hears you and He will answer.  He always has for me, I encourage you to, cry out to God.

Stand Firm

“Be on guard, stand firm in the faith, be people of courage, be strong.”
1 Corinthians 16:13

Let’s break this scripture down a little.

First, be on guard.  That means be watching, don’t be fooled by anyone including the culture around us.  Also, don’t be fooled by your own emotions and feelings, they can betray us. God has told us what is right we just need to do it.

Next, stand firm in the faith.  We must stand up for what we believe in, what God says in his Word.  If someone questions what you believe, point them back to God, you are just agreeing with God on what He says.

Next, be people of courage.  Christians should be the most courageous people on earth, after all we have Almighty God, Creator of the universe, with us.

Last, be strong.  To quote another scripture, I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me.  You are not strong of your self but by putting your trust in Christ He will give you the strength to do what pleases God.

So go out into your world and “Be on guard, stand firm in the faith, be people of courage, be strong.”

What Is Fear?

“Fear not, there is nothing to fear for I am with you…”

What is fear?  For most of us it is not some scary monster or even another person out to get us.  It is the unknown – worry – we don’t know what is going to happen next.    Someone does know though and He is God.  Everything flows through His hands and He only wants what is best for you.   I challenge you to write the verse below on a 3 x 5 index card and keep it handy.  When you feel fear or worry coming up, take it out and read it outloud, you will find that God will calm you and ease your fears.

“Fear not, there is nothing to fear for I am with you, do not look around in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and harden you to difficulties, yes I will help you, I will hold you up and retain you with my victorious right hand of rightness and justice.”  Isaiah 41:10 (Amplified bible)

More Than Gold

“God’s Word is to be desired more than gold, it is sweeter than honey.” Psalm 19:10

You’ve heard it said that if you had the cure for cancer you would share it with everyone.  Well I have the cure for spiritual cancer and I want to share it with you – it is God’s Word.   I know, I know, it just looks like a big thick book written in an old language that is hard to understand.   Don’t complicate it, simplify it.  Choose one book out of the bible to read and get a version you can understand, that is written in every day language.  With the internet you can go there to read it and become rich in gold and honey.  I encourage you to get into the Word more and get more out of the Word – God’s instruction book on how to live a joyful life!

Creating A New Thing

In Genesis God created all things.  Not only did He create this wonderful world we live in but He created us.  Genesis 2:7 states “The the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath or spirit of life, and man became a living being.” (Amplified)

How awesome!  God breathed His Spirit into a human.  That is ultimately what separates us from the rest of creation.   I believe God also put in us the motivation to create as well.  He made us a caretaker of creation and through Jesus He has told us to love Him and love our fellow humans.

Through this blog I hope to create a way to help and love others.  To share what I believe God is telling us though His Word.  This is something I believe God wants me to do.  My prayer is that God uses me as His vessel.   May God bless those who read it.
